Beauty for Ashes

I took my bag of stones
Threw them all in the air
And like bubbles in the skies
I watched them float away

I poured my bucket of tears
In my garden of shame
And right before my eyes
Beautiful sunflowers sprang up

I took a hammer to the lock on my chest of secrets
And dark and hidden fears
To my surprise when I opened it
It was filled with shining diamonds and jewels

I broke down my wall of distrust
With fierceness of heart
As the bricks came down and feeling rushed in
I was swept away by a torrent of love

I walked off my cliff of excuses
With a deep breath and great courage
When I opened my eyes
I was flying with wings I never knew were there

I took my war scroll with the names of my enemies
And I burned it in the flame
As the un-forgiveness tied to each name turned to ash
I found a line of never ending friendships

I pulled up the weeds of unfulfilled dreams
Made room for the sun to shine
Let the water run through my soul
A beautiful flower of purpose came forth in full bloom

I cleaned the ash from my filthy mirror of esteem
As the glass became clear
I looked at myself
I could see beauty

Inspired by the Holy Spirit written by malachi819, 05-25-12
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. -- Isaiah 61:3
