A little of my story...
I'm surprised by the number of people I talk to who volunteered at Star of Hope when they were in their teens. I am one of those. I bought my first guitar when I was 15. At 16, one of the first places I played publicly was with my step-father at Star of Hope's old Men's Shelter on La Branch. I won't ever forget that night, singing hymns with the men before their meal.
Quite a few years later and I'm on staff... A couple of Fridays a month you can find me leading worship with the women and families at our Transitional Living Center. That's special! Making this even more special for me, a new friend has recently joined in. Vance is a Star of Hope graduate and now a volunteer! Take a look at Vance's story.
What are your gifts? What are your talents? What is your professional expertise? What is your life experience? All of these can be used to help and change the lives of Houston's homeless.
