25 Days of Christmas Miracles!

My family and I are big fans of Hallmark TV Christmas movies, and we were watching a new one this past weekend called “Mrs. Miracle." Since joining Star of Hope, I have been amazed at the miracles that constantly happen here. This movie inspired me to write to you over the next few weeks, and tell you about Christmas miracles happening at Star of Hope as they happen, during this amazing season of... Read More »

Homeless Families Double in Houston!

Are You Feeling The Summer Heat Yet?

I was asked this question a few days ago by a friend up north. My mind immediately went to the heat and humidity outside, but the question also struck a much deeper chord. While there is always so much in life to be thankful for, we all in the Gulf Coast area are feeling not only the summer heat, but also the unsettledness of the Gulf oil crisis. The economic impact and uncertainty it is having on... Read More »

When a teenager comes into Star of Hope with his or her family, they will receive many things that they need from shampoo to a uniform for school. But I feel the greatest gift that they will receive while they live here at the Women and Family Shelter is something that I give to them. Almost every teen that has come through our doors has received a Bible! Many of the teens that come through here... Read More »

The Heart of Houston

Just last week, our city showed its HEART once again, with a great Thanksgiving Parade and meals galore around downtown for Houston’s families in need.
