One of the joys of my profession as a youth minister is stretching my youth beyond their comfort zone. When they are challenged to go beyond their typical way of life, they are challenged physically - inspired emotionally - and encouraged spiritually.
Recently we brought several ministry components of our youth department and held an afternoon service at Star of Hope on Ardmore in Houston, TX. I honestly believe that although we were there to give of our time and talent - God gave us so much more in return.
Because of that great experience, we challenged our bible study group to do a toiletry drive for the homeless to continue the giving spirit that was ignited when we held the service. My challenge was for them to give unselfishly as God has done the same for them (Deut. 15:10). The response was awesome!
Thank you Star of Hope for what you do in our community and for allowing the Fountain of Praise Rock Youth church to become more like Jesus by helping someone in need.
