My Background Is Not An Excuse To Give Up!

I lived at the Star of Hope when I was six or seven years old. It was really different for my family but it helped us alot, especially my mom. I got to meet some great people here and they actually are still apart of my life. The most memorable thing I did while I was here was going to Michael Jordan basketball camp in California. The Star of Hope knew that I liked basketball and arranged for me to fly to California.

The Star of Hope is nothing to be ashamed of, in my opinion. It's life and in life people make mistakes. No matter what people say there is nothing that you can't accomplish.

I have graduated from college with a bachelors degree in kinesiology and am now working on my masters degree in early childhood education and it feels great. I have been through alot in my life but my background does not give me an excuse to give up. I will use it as motivation and I know I will continue to be successful.

Congratulations Daronica. You are setting an example and demonstrating that anything is possible, if you are willing to work hard for it and put it in God's hands!

Daronica Williams is a beautiful young woman whom I am very proud of; her resilience and strength is undoubtedly remarkable. I foresee her having a positive impact on the lives of children with compromised backgrounds. With perseverance and determination nothing should preclude one from achieving their goal and aspirations. Daronica has proven that by beating all odds, hats off to you my dear.
