As you may be aware, the National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for our nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. It’s a day for personal repentance and prayer, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. It is a national, state and local observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.
Because prayer is so vital to everything we do at Star of Hope, we will also observe this day by praying for the needs of our Church Partners and local Christian leaders. Some of our staff will gather on that day to specifically pray for church requests. If you have a special petition that we can bring before God for your church, please email me by Tuesday, May 5, with your prayer request. We would be honored to lift your church and its need before our Heavenly Father! And conversely, as your church participates in the National Day of Prayer, would you remember to pray for Star of Hope?
Please Pray with Star of Hope for …
• The hungry, hurting and homeless who need life change through Christ in their time of need.
• The faithful staff, volunteers and donors who are truly the hands and feet of Jesus!
• Continued funding, resources and volunteers necessary to meet the overwhelming needs in our city.
• The development of Cornerstone Community℠ transformational campus for Houston’s homeless single women and families.
I encourage you to promote our prayer requests in your church newsletter, worship bulletin, or on your Facebook page. We partner with churches in many ways, but no partnership is more needed today or as effective than Christians who pray together.
