I would like to share a story with you I heard today, that captures how we feel about our volunteers at Star of Hope! A group of volunteers had just finished serving lunch at our Men’s Development Center earlier this week and was walking out, when they received an enthusiastic round of applause from the appreciative crowd of men still in the dining room.
Allow me to join in their applause for ALL who serve with us here at Star of Hope!
Next week you will receive Star of Hope’s 2014 Ministry Report. We are glad to share with you many of the amazing things we were able to accomplish together last year. Here is a preview of what the Ministry Report says about the impact of our volunteers:
"In 2014, 7,017 volunteers gave 39,277 hours of service in our dining halls, chapel services, classes and administrative offices. We are grateful for every hour they spent offering encouragement and hope to our guests and residents! At the same time, 199 professionals donated 16,543 hours of their specialized and high-demand skills—providing $628,572 worth of service to those in our care."
As you can see, everyone who serves with us at Star of Hope is a tremendous blessing to the ministry. Now, I would like you to read what our staff and clients have to say about our volunteers. Recently, our Volunteer Services team asked them, “What do our volunteers mean to you?" Please visit Celebrating Volunteers to find out more and join our celebration.
Once again, thank you for giving your precious resources of time, talent and finances as together we move people and families from homeless to hope!
