Great things are happening at Star of Hope! The summer will soon be coming to a close and the children in our family centers will be returning from camp before heading back to school in a couple of weeks. Camp for these kids is such a blessing, for many it is their first outdoors experience. When you see a child catch a fish, or ride a horse for the first time and see the smile on her face along with the joy in her voice, it truly warms the heart.
This summer has particular significance for Star of Hope as it marks what may be the last one where our families and single women will reside at our Women & Family Emergency Shelter and Transitional Living Center.
Construction on Star of Hope’s Cornerstone Community℠ transformational campus is progressing rapidly, despite the heavy rains Houston received in the spring. Once completed our families and single women will move to the Women & Family Development Center on the campus which will also include a chapel, basketball pavilion, playgrounds and parks.
This is a pivotal project for Star of Hope, and for homeless women and children in Houston! The Christ-centered women and family programs we began more than three decades ago will now be in one location, which will allow us to better serve the needs of this vulnerable population.
