At Star of Hope we work diligently to help individuals get off the streets and into life-changing programs so they can begin a new life and become independent, contributing members of society once again. One way we do this is through Star of Hope’s Extended Services and our Outreach ministry.
Last Friday night, 82 volunteers, along with staff and partner ministries joined together for our 2nd Annual Takin’ Hope to the Streets outreach event. Small group teams took the Gospel message of HOPE and the offer of shelter to many who live on the streets in our city.
One of our High Impact volunteers, Brian Barrington, joined us for the event. He described how his group shared the love of Christ:
“We told everyone we met that we were there to bring Hope to the streets, and that God loved them. Some just wanted some food, and were grateful; while others, we were able to give advice regarding emergency shelters and other services. Most of the men and women we met allowed us to hold hands and pray for them.” Read more … http://soh.ms/1s9FMyd
God blessed the outreach ministry with these results:
• Prayed with 91 people
• Presented the Gospel to 89 individuals
• Transported 3 women to Star of Hope’s Women and Family Emergency Shelter for safety and care
• 2 individuals reported physical healing after prayer
• Distributed 110 hygiene packs
• Distributed 260 food items (sandwiches and canned meat)
• Distributed 500 sack lunches & water bottles
And most significant, 7 people chose to enter a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We appreciate your support and prayers as we serve together during the coming holiday season.
