October is here and the weather reports are telling us that cooler weather is finally on the way! I know for many of us, the fall season is our favorite time of the year. It is also much busier around the Star of Hope. That is because the children are back in school, we are preparing for changes in the weather and planning for great holiday celebrations, all of which create more activity for you and me.
So, as we enter this special but busy time of the year, I want to share the following verse of scripture with you: "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." I Thessalonians 5:18 KJV. I love this scripture because it reminds me that whatever I am feeling at any given moment, God first wants me to be grateful to Him for who I am and what he's done for me! And when I wholeheartedly stop and just thank Him, it always makes me take a deep breath and look up at His heavens and feel safe and loved. It also fills me with renewed trust in Him, and I truly believe that he has me in the palm of His hand. And that great joy can then radiate to everyone around!
As we all come together to serve the individuals and families who will come our way these last few months of the year, let us draw our strength from God… and be full of His love and new life. Let us be joyful and excited about who we are in Jesus Christ, and let that joy and excitement guide our every step, each day so we can confront whatever challenges, problems and issues our days may bring with thanksgiving and trust in God. As we do this, our days will be blessed and our efforts will matter in the lives of those we serve at the Star of Hope, because God will be speaking and loving through us!
