Every year Star of Hope Mission holds a commencement ceremony for the teens who have graduated from high school and are preparing for the next chapter in their lives. This year we had the pleasure of celebrating seven teens who accomplished this great milestone, six with aspirations for college and one teen entering the Army! It is an amazing feeling when I am able to witness our youth grow in Christ, make positive choices for their future, and follow their dreams!
Followed by praise and worship, the teens spoke about their personal relationship with Christ since their arrival to Star of Hope Mission and how growth in Him has helped them stay faithful and hopeful, despite their current homeless situation. One of our teens stated that her walk with Christ has really changed her behavior; she had no plans for her life after high school and now she is going to be the first in her family to attend college! Our guest speaker, staff and volunteers left the teens with words of encouragement and plan to keep in contact with them!
Star of Hope Mission is truly blessed with amazing donors who help our teens. We would like to thank the Astros Wives organization for providing our teens with dorm room essentials to start them on their next journey! We are also grateful to The Donald Driver Scholarship; for providing support for some of our teens.
I ask that you continue to pray for all of our teens, and those seven in particular to stay focused and encouraged as they begin the next leg of their journey.
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. -Deuteronomy 31:8
