Being a vibrant mission is not just about caring for the homeless in our city, it's about serving our friends who support our ministry. One of the ways we do this is by sharing the wonderful things that are happening in our shelters to encourage and prepare our clients for re-entering society, with obtainable goals for self-sufficiency.
As you read the blogs written by our staff and guest bloggers, your heart will be touched by the stories about life in the shelters and the experiences of the men, women and children living in them. You will find ways to connect that meet your charitable ideals and many opportunities to deepen your involvement with Star of Hope Mission.
Imagine being two years behind in school and never knowing if you be able to return to the same school the next day, the next semester or the next year. This is a reality some this year's graduates have faced. We constantly have teens who stay with us who are two years behind. That is sometimes heartbreaking. But this year we have FOUR teens to get accepted into college. Reva is going University of Texas @ Austin to study English, her sister Ronnesia is going to Lamar University for Nursing, Jasmine is going to Sam Houston State university to study Forensic Chemistry and Chanice will be attending University of Houston to study Psychology. That’s amazing.
It has been exciting for me as well as for them. And The Grace Foundation is helping each one of the girls with a $3000 scholarship. Maybe you can help these girls too.
I look forward to watching them walk across the stage this year and four years from now! Who is coming with me?
