Look to your Heavenly Father for encouragement! He will never leave you, never forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
For many of our Star of Hope clients, Father’s Day is just another day. With the trend of absent and abusive fathers, the men and women in our programs find it very difficult to comprehend what a loving father looks like, acts like, and how he impacts the lives of his children.
When ministering to clients, I find that it is important to remind them that God is not like ANY earthly father we can imagine. So we must differentiate between our Heavenly Father and an earthly father.
- God is present when our fathers are absent.
- God is close when our fathers are far away.
- God is loving when our fathers don’t care.
- God is righteous when our fathers are sinful.
- God is more than we can think or imagine when our fathers disappoint and hurt.
This Father’s Day…we are celebrating Fatherhood. We are taking some of our men to KSBJ’s event, Born to Be Wild: The Man Journey. Friday, June 14th (the Friday before Father’s Day) will be a time for them to come together as men of God and encourage one another in their journey to be more like Him. It will be an evening filled with food, fun and fellowship. We are blessed that KSBJ has offered tickets for our men to experience Father’s Day in a whole new light. We hope that this event, along with the encouragement from staff and one another, will ensure that Father’s Day, 2013 is NOT just another day, but a day to celebrate fatherhood and praise our Father in Heaven. Because He is all we need!
“Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God
has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go
well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”
